Helen works for a local charity that focuses on providing arts and crafts opportunities at local schools and community centres. The charity is a great way for people to try new things and to meet with a group of people regularly, which is important for mental health and keeping active. This Christmas, Helen wanted to organise a Christmas fayre at one of the community centres, with stalls showcasing work from a variety of artists, as well as hot drinks and festive treats. For the main catering option, Hog Roast Stourbridge was hired to provide a classic hog roast menu for the event, as it is ideal for serving large crowds of guests and is the perfect way to warm up on a cold winter’s day!
When the day of the fayre arrived, the Hog Roast Stourbridge team arrived at the venue in the morning and began preparing the catering. We began by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that we selected one that would be ample for the 250 guests to enjoy. Once the pork was ready, it was expertly carved and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. The rolls made for an ideal buffet lunch, which we served between 12:00pm and 3:00pm. During this time, we served all of the guests successfully, once they had been drawn in by the smell of our catering! The fayre was definitely a success, and our catering was an added bonus for the stallholders and guests.
